1. Learn how to create cases by pushing studies from a PACS to the teaching file server, and how to manipulate images with the new browser-based DICOM stack viewer.
2. Learn how MyPACS is being used by hospitals as part of their resident training programs and weekly conference presentations.
ABSTRACT
MyPACS.net is a free MIRC-compatible web application funded by the National Institutes of Health that allows radiologists to share teaching files and research studies through web browsers.
Radiologists from around the world have contributed over 4000 cases containing 20,000 images to the repository. MyPACS enables institutions to specify role-based policies for creating, editing, approving, and publishing cases. A new feature is the browser-based DICOM stack viewer that allows users to cycle through images in a stack, adjust windows and levels, and add selected images to a case. The system also includes new hierarchical smart folders for organizing and sharing cases, and new knowledge management tools enabling the construction of custom ontologies for classifying and browsing cases.
