ABSTRACT
Uterine arterial embolization (UAE) is gaining populary as a safe and cost-effective way of treating leiomyomas. But in some cases, we encounter complication of UAE. They can be divided into six general categories: complications of angiogpraphy, pelvic infection, ischemic phenomena, radiation injury, adverse drug reaction, and pulmonary embolus. We review the radiological findings of these complication. Angiographic complications inculude dissection of the uterine arteries during catherization, rupture of a vesical artery branch, and ulceration of vulva due to anastomosis between uterine artery and inferior pudendal aretery. Postembolization complications inculude myoma delivery with pelvic infection, salpingitis, and ulceration of vulva.
