ABSTRACT
Institutions seeking certification by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) can expend significant amounts of time and effort gathering, tracking and organizing the required data for endorsement. We have developed an intranet-based system, with a bi-directional PDA interface, that manages staffing, scheduling, duty hours, competency and educational events while enabling labor free generation of ACGME reports. The system’s database is populated via a combination of web-based and mobile user interfaces. The addition of a mobile access point using a personal digital assistant (PDA) that functions either off-line or on-line promotes utilization and accuracy of the required data. Our interactive computer display profiles this overall solution as implemented by our department and provides insights for similar integration of PDA technology within other academic radiology departments.
