 ABSTRACT

PowerPoint is the standard software used for presentation at scientific meetings such as RSNA. Most presenters have become familiar with the basic function of PowerPoint, but few use the more advanced features such as add-ins. Add-ins are supplemental programs that extend the capabilities of PowerPoint by adding custom commands and specialized features. Add-ins can be written by the user using Visual Basic for Applications. Add-ins are also available from third parties. This exhibit discusses the use of add-in programs useful to the radiologist. It also describe how to create simple add-ins, and reviews samples of add-ins written or used by the authors to facilitate repetitive tasks. It includes importing and resizing batches of images, exporting full resolution images for printing, converting PowerPoint presentations to other formats. Sample add-in programs written by the authors will be freely distributed and the source code made available under the GNU General Public License.
